  • Avenging Victorio

    OptionedHistorical fiction

A moving tale of death and revenge. The 1881 Apache raid in New Mexico to avenge the killing of war chief Victorio terrorized the populace. Led by Nana, a 72-year-old sub chief, they used guerrilla warfare raid-and-retreat tactics. Nana's small band of fewer than twenty warriors traversed 3,000 miles, evaded the cavalry, fought seven major battles, and killed and mutilated dozens of citizens and soldiers. They were never caught and won the battles, but not the war. A fascinating glimpse into a frequently forgotten New Mexico historical event, portrayed in vivid cultural differences and motivations: a fast-paced story that entertains and educates at the same time. The Apache insurgency in 1881 New Mexico weaves together the perspectives of the opposing sides (the Apache and the military), providing insight into the events of that period. A rag-tag group of Apache warriors, led by an elderly man in his late seventies, took on the U.S. Army's Ninth Cavalry in revenge for the death of the great Apache war chief Victorio. Using guerrilla warfare, they led raids throughout New Mexico, slaughtering men, women, and children and evading the Cavalry and the Buffalo Soldiers. In the end they won. This is the story of the Apache Nana and his clan avenging Victorio's defeat at the hands of Edward Hatch (for whom the New Mexico village is named). It also tells the tale of the hidden Bridal Chamber cache of gold, silver, and precious stones that still today lures treasure seekers to Victorio's Peak.

  • Warrior Woman - Viet Nam

    In DevelopmentHistorical / war docudrama

Women made a significant contribution to both the North and the South Vietnam war efforts. The cost of war (any war) goes beyond the imagination of anyone who has never been involved in one. It is a collective sacrifice that deeply impacts the human soul and experience. Vietnam was no different. Vietnamese women were de-feminized as soldiers; some were interpreters, nurses, housekeepers and cleaners for the American soldiers, medics, businesswomen, secretaries, and "comfort women." Sexual violence against women was widespread. Women who served as spies faced great danger if caught: certain torture or execution. Some women found redemption, love, and peace. This is one woman's courageous story.
